Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, February 12, 2002 - OPTIMUM Power Technology has announced the immediate availability of a complete line of performance accessory products for the Cannondale MX and ATV machines. Designed to provide flexibility and customization, the accessory line consists of super-bright LED displays, handlebar switches, and comprehensive software to enhance the owner's riding experience. The software is available for both PC and Pocket PC platforms. Modular in design, the accessory line has been configured to provide an easy upgrade path to introduce greater degrees of customization. Jim Hazen, Sales Manager for the GP Control® line states, "The Diagnostic and Maintenance Tool is an entry-level configuration allowing the owner of a Cannondale machine to perform his own diagnostic and maintenance tasks including sending new maps to the on-board ECU. He can further upgrade this configuration with Map Select. With Map Select the owner is provided a handlebar switch that allows him to change the ECU mapping real-time while riding." Other upgrades include Pro Calibrator, a full-function map editor that provides the high-end owner the ability to view and tweak ignition and fueling settings to their own preference. The final Rider Trim upgrade is a unique method of performing changes to the ECU mapping while riding via another handlebar switch and offers the exclusive 'Digital Jetting' feature allowing you to effectively 'jet' your engine in a fraction of the time it takes to perform a jet change on a carburetor. Roy Houston, Vice President of OPTIMUM Power Technology's Engine Management Systems Group, explains, "As the OEM Engine Management systems supplier to Cannondale, OPTIMUM played an important role in the engine calibration activity in preparation for the 2002 model introduction. All of our field testing with pro riders as well as Cannondale factory riders were performed with the full handlebar accessories and software. It became instantly obvious that the riders preferred having access to more than one map. Towards the end of our calibration activity, it was also obvious that the riders preferred to tweak the settings to suit their own personal riding style. It was this customization that we wanted to pass along to the owners of these exceptional machines. "We also recognized the need to provide a better platform than the PC or laptop while at the track. Pocket PCs are the perfect answer to providing the owner with an inexpensive, lightweight and compact platform. And our patent pending Pocket PC software introduces full PC functionality to the Pocket PC platform for the ultimate in track-side support." Jim Hazen continues, "Fifteen years ago you wouldn't dream of customizing your suspension settings. Today, the technology is so advanced that you wouldn't dream of not doing suspension setups. The same is true of our fuel injection technology. Past FI systems were a 'black box', meaning that you had no ability to alter the fuel delivery profile. The GP Control system contains a sophisticated algorithm to allow modification of ignition and fuel profiles."
